Steph Torpy

Say hello to Steph

Here we feature a different woman in the Brow Confidence community and ask her about her first brow experiences, the lessons she’s learned, and her top brow tips.

Meet BC woman Steph Torphy, a lawyer who discovered that shorter, thicker brows changed her face.

Name: Steph Torpy
Age: 31
Occupation: Lawyer

1. Tell us about your first brow grooming experience?

No good brow-grooming experience ever started with the family tweezers and 5 minutes alone in the bathroom. Unfortunately for me, mine did.

2. What is your current brow routine?

Each morning I start by brushing up my brows with a dry spoolie (important, so that you know the shape you’re working with). Then, I fill in my brows lightly with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz.  Finally, to set the shape I apply a small amount of Pears soap on a wet spoolie. The process takes only a minute and it’s a non-negotiable in my day.

A hot tip for fans of the Pears soap, if you’re travelling (or find the bar of soap too bulky), Muji sell small rectangular plastic containers for about $2. All you need to do is cut the soap to size and it’s perfect to store in your makeup bag.

“Brow Confidence is the confidence I get from knowing that my brow shape has been tailored to my face and is exactly right for me.”

3. What does brow confidence mean to you?

Brow Confidence is the confidence I get from knowing that my brow shape has been tailored to my face and is exactly right for me

4. How did you find out about Lien?

I had been a long-time admirer of Lien’s work for a number of years, after the walking beauty bible Zoë Foster-Blake outed her as her Brow Guru. When Lien made a call-out for new clients in Melbourne, I didn’t hesitate.

During my first appointment, Lien transformed my brows by shortening the tails and using powder to create fuller, thicker brows. Thankfully my brows have grown back after years of mistreatment, so these days our appointments mainly consist of trimming and subtle shaping (which means that the shape is easily maintained between appointments).

“I’ve learned so much from Lien over the years, but the biggest tip is that shorter, thicker brows suit my face.”

5. Biggest lesson you’ve taken away?

I’ve learned so much from Lien over the years, but the biggest tip is that shorter, thicker brows suit my face. Being petite with fine features, I always thought my brows needed to be petite too. Lien’s taught me that by ‘fattening’ up my brows, my face looks instantly rounder, softer, and fuller.

6. Describe your brows in three words:

Shorter, thicker, better.

Brow Confidence is about building a community of women that want a better future for their brows.
